Alcala-Alcossebre Council is going to invest a further 360,230 euros in seven new projects to improve the urban environment and other amounts, in addition to the 452,739 euros already invested this year in financially sustainable projects. In total, the council is spending 1,025,000 euros out of funds remaining from 2017 on projects considered priorities by the governing group and which, in many cases, have been requested by residents. “Thanks to the savings made during 2017 we can continue investing in very important projects for our municipalities, thus increasing the investment portfolio already included in the municipal budget, adding up to practically 2 million euros in investments”, the Treasury councillor, María Agut, stated.
In this case, they are going to invest 170,000 euros in redesigning the Juan Vilanova and Justo Zaragozá squares in Alcala, making them spaces to encourage gatherings, re-organising traffic flow and, particularly, improving their appearance, as they are one of the entrance points to Alcala. They will also resurface the calle Santa Lucía in Alcossebre, spending 83,400 euros and 60,000 euros will be spent on the project for a new information centre at the Santa Lucía hermitage. Other investments which are planned are the acquisition of computers for municipal buildings, a new air-conditioning system in the Casa de la Cultura, new security cameras to prevent crimes and acts of vandalism and the renovation of a room in the Alcala train station.
