Alcossebre picks up the baton from Alcala and is in fiestas mode from today until Sunday, 9th September.   During the next few days, the coastal town, both residents and visitors, will be out and about taking part in and enjoying the events.  These start today with the children’s activities from 17:30 h in the plaza Vista Alegre and continue until 20:00 h when the traditional procession of local clubs and associations through the streets, better known as the Pregonet, takes place.  At 20:30 h the festival area in the Paseo Marítimo will be officially opened.  At 23:00 h, in the festival area, there will be a live concert Tribute to “El Canto del Loco”, followed by a party with a cowboy theme.

During the days following, the festival programme centres in the morning on traditional games for the children, comic sketches presented by Alcocebre Joven and the pasodobles concert presented by the Alcala de Xivert Associació Musical Santa Cecília, the Dancing Night, the “Summer Carnival” party, Theatre Night, the paella competition, the chess tournament organised by the Alcala de Xivert Chess Club, the fishing competition.  On Thursday night, in the tented area, the Ibizan party and on Friday and Saturday nights there will be dancing to the Gamma and La Red bands.  There will also be different events in the bull ring.

Also, between 12 noon and 15:00 hours a total of 20 establishments in Alcossebre are offering small gastronomic creations – “tapas” -  for a minimum price of 2.50€ which includes the ‘tapa’ and a drink of beer, wine or water, within the Tapas Route.  People who take part in the route can enter a draw for 20 vouchers worth 15€ each to be spent in the participating hostelries.  The leaflets can be obtained from the Tourist Office and the Council Offices, or from the participating hostelries.

The Council appeals to residents and visitors “to continue with the same participation which we have already seen in the Alcala fiestas, as many visitors and residents who have second homes in Alcossebre extend their stays to enjoy these fiestas”.
