Alcala-Alcossebre Council to invest in enlarging and improving the municipal gymnasiums

In the forthcoming municipal budgets which are to be dealt with at a council meeting on
Wednesday 28th November, Alcala-Alcossebre Council will be considering a sum of 170,000 euros to enlarge the Alcala municipal gymnasium. An investment of 3,800 euros is also to be considered to install air conditioning in the Alcossebre gymnasium.
In Alcala, where the gym opened in summer 2016, there are facilities which have been used a lot and which have seen the number of users noticeably increase in recent months, going from 139 users to 300. Activities have also increased with the addition of spinning and crossfit classes, which have been well received. The extension will consist of a new multipurpose room, destined, particularly, for this type of activity with a coach. New changing rooms will also be built because with the increased numbers of users, it has become necessary to have more facilities available for all those who practise sport in the gym and multipurpose pavilion. The situation is such that in recent months the pavilion is also being used more by local sports clubs, so that use of the municipal sports facilities is constant.
Mayor Francisco Juan said that “at the time, we built a gym big enough for the needs of the
times. It has been in use for two years during which the number of users has increased to 300 people, so enlarging it has become necessary as more users have come to us”.
