Alcala-Alcossebre Council joined in commemorating the International Women’s Day with the official reading of a manifesto in front of Alcala Council and the Alcossebre Municipal Offices, with municipal representatives and town’s men and women present. The manifesto, read by Social Wellbeing councillor, Desa Pitarch, appealed for “the approval of a law for Sexual Equality at work, and a guarantee of a section in the budget for the State Pact against domestic violence and the Valencian Pact against domestic violence”. Pitarch reminded everyone that “using the Equality Plan, Alcala-Alcossebre Council is working on actions aimed at eliminating inequality and has promised to extend them to all society” and she finished by saying that “we women have the power to change the world. We just have to have the desire to do it, all together, without discrimination because of ideology”.
Throughout March, the programme which Alcala-Alcossebre Council is dedicating to commemorating the International Women’s Day will continue with events such as the “Alcala-Alcossebre Sportswomen” photographs exhibition, the women’s charity race and several workshops.
