Alcala-Alcossebre has a new Municipal Emergencies Territorial Plan

The council has drawn up the document establishing coordination of public and private measures to be taken in the event of risk situations or serious emergencies

The full Alcala-Alcossebre Council meeting unanimously approved the Municipal Emergencies Territorial Plan following the public exhibition period during which no objections had been raised.  The Plan will come into force when it has the approval of the Civil Protection Service.  The plan’s main objective is to obtain maximum protection for people, the environment and properties which could be affected in any emergency situation.  The Plan brings together all the public and private measures it possesses and establishes a hierarchical structure to organise any action in the event of an emergency.

This Territorial Plan also reflects that, given the level of risk the town presents, specific municipal plans must be developed to deal with forest fires, flooding and the risk from dangerous materials being transported by road.  The town is exempt from drawing up plans to deal with seismic risks through serious accidents.

Urbanism councillor, José Colom, emphasised that “drawing up this Plan, in the hands of a Local Police officer and with cooperation from other Council departments, Environmental experts, Firemen, etc., involved great effort”.
