Alcossebre’s beaches have renewed the four blue flags authorised by the ADEAC Foundation, the organisation responsible for awarding them in Spain. This award is an international emblem which recognises the very high quality of the waters, the environmental quality and the services available. The Cargador, Romana, Manyetes and Moro beaches have ratified the emblem, making Alcala-Alcossebre the most awarded place in the Baix Maestrat. Added to these four blue flags for the beaches is one for the Coastal Path which links the Cargador and Romana beaches.
On the Council’s part, the ADEAC Foundation has been asked for information about why the Las Fuentes beach has not been recognised, as the results obtained during the 2018 season were excellent. Tourism Councillor, Alejandra Roca, explains that “with the application of a European Directive which takes the history of the last four years into account, this is influenced by the closure episode which we had in 2017 in spite of having completely resolved it and keeping the environmental quality ensured”.
Mayor Francisco Juan stated that “the control and quality systems demanded each time are greater and our beaches comply with them, as was demonstrated last summer when there were no closure episodes, when they were happening regularly in other municipalities. The five awards we have received confirm that we are the leader in the province’s tourist localities”.
