The municipal committee ends the course studying Alcala-Alcossebre School Absenteeism with good results

The Alcala-Alcossebre Council committee studying School Absenteeism has held the last meeting of its 2018-2019 session, assessing the actions taken by the group,  made up from the Social Welfare councillor, experts from the Social Welfare Department (a psychologist, social educator and intercultural mediator), management teams and educational psychologists from the local education centres and Alcalà-Alcossebre Local Police

Among matters developed during the year, several discussions, aimed both at fathers and mothers as well as pupils, have taken place about preventing absenteeism, giving advice on the consequences of increased non-attendance at school  On this matter, as Desa Pitarch the Social Welfare councillor confirmed, “intercultural mediation plays a very important role as the cases of absenteeism are more pronounced among the immigrant population”.  Pitarch emphasised the “coordination existing between all the members of the committee, their predisposition to study and face up to real cases and to increase the number of meetings when it has been necessary” and added that “we have also tried to start up various preventive actions to stop bullying in the schools”.  This school absenteeism committee has been operating during the present legislature.
