Alcala-Alcossebre Council to acquire a drone for vigilance work
4,500 euros remaining from the 2018 treasury will be set aside for the drone which will be used principally for vigilance in rural areas by the Local Police
A full council meeting approved the expenditure of 4,500 euros remaining from the 2018 treasury for this purchase, which will also receive a grant from the Ministerio de Fomento which could cover up to 75% of the amount. Later the Council will have to draw up a new regulation for the use of this type of equipment and start training the Local Police officers so that they can control them.
The drone will be used for vigilance purposes over rural areas, facilitating the tasks of the security forces given the wide coverage required in the municipality. There are also a multitude of uses for this type of equipment such as vigilance and distribution of messages using loudspeakers, recording videos, etc.
“We think that this type of technology could prove to be very useful when controlling rural areas, acting as a deterrent to prevent robberies and thus reinforcing the work being carried out by the Local Police, the Guardia Civil and the rural protection service”, Mayor Francisco Juan explained.
