One of the most attended events during the Alcala de Xivert Patronal Fiestas was the Beef Stew Night on 24th August. The Custom Maestrat association cooked 300 kilos of beef, 60 kilos of onions, 40 kilos of carrots and 300 kilos of potatoes, on a low fire and in the traditional manner. Salad, bread and fruit were also distributed. In spite of the rain which started at about 9pm, the event, which filled the Lo Campanar CEIP playground with people, was able to proceed without any problems, and continue with the sale of the Dona Gaspatxera Association’s traditional pastries and dancing to the music of the Orquesta Atalaia.
Mayor Francisco Juan pointed out the “rapid reaction of the whole organisation when the rain came which, in the end, did not spoil the event” and emphasised that “in the first four days of the fiestas, very many people had taken part”.
On Tuesday, 25th August, the Council was awaiting the weather forecast in case the danger of rain and storms made it necessary to move the planned events inside. In case it was necessary, the Review Night would be transferred to the Pensioners’ Hall and the Concert Night with the Grupo Limite, would be held in the Espai d’Oci
