The Mayor of Alcala-Alcossebre, Francisco Juan, has written to the president of the Provincial Diputación and president of the Provincial Tourism Board, José P. Martí, as well as to the Board’s vice-president and Provincial Tourism deputy, Virginia Martí, requesting that the town returns as part of the full advisory committee of the Provincial Tourism Board, as in previous legislatures, having been excluded from the list of selected municipalities in the provincial organism itself.
Juan reminded that “Alcossebre has an important tourist infrastructure and we are one of the principal destinations for the passengers who use Castellón airport”. Also, “if one of the aims of the Provincial Board is to encourage inland tourism, our Alcala nucleus is encouraging programmes and actions to inspire tourism in inland destinations, basing them on the cultural heritage, the promotion of local agricultural products and gastronomy.
The Mayor of Alcala-Alcossebre expressed his confidence “that the current composition of the Provincial Board will be reconsidered and our municipality will not remain without representation on this body, which decides on all the promotion and diffusion of actions which are to be carried out in the province at tourism level, with the participation of municipalities and the business sector. Many of the decisions which are taken by the Board have a direct influence on us as a great part of our municipality’s economy depends on tourism”.
