Alcala-Alcossebre Council initiates the first steps to build the new Espai d’Oci and Casal Jove in Alcossebre
It is a project valued at 920,000 euros and 290,000 euros will go towards it from the treasury remainder for the first phase of construction. The building will be located in a municipal plot in the calle Bedoll

Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council has started the processes for the construction of a new social-cultural building in Alcossebre, to be used as a leisure space and youth centre. It will be situated on a plot belonging to the municipality in the calle Bedoll. With credit modification to be approved at a future extraordinary council meeting; the 290,000 euros remaining from the 2018 treasury will be used to start the construction project, as Sustainable Financial Investment. So that the total cost of 920,000 euros can be covered, the project will be spread over several years between 2019-2021. The project plans include building a two-floor building with a total area of 1,200 square metres. There will be a multi-purpose hall, with a stage where events such as scholastic festivals, concerts, musical event, etc. on the first floor. On the second floor – with smaller dimensions – the Youth Centre will be situated with capacity for various training rooms and offices. The technicians are also studying how to create parking spaces next to the building.
Mayor Francisco Juan said that “we are adding a new municipal building in response to the requests from Alcossebre residents, who have often told us of the need for a building like this to hold different events” and he pointed out that “thanks to savings generated through our financial management, we can start this project – one of the most important of this legislature – having only been in government for three months”.
