Alcala-Alcossebre Council finalises the project for the new Espai d’Oci and Casal Jove in Alcossebre

Alcala-Alcossebre Council is finalising the draft of the project to carry out the new Alcossebre Leisure Space and Youth Centre. A new municipal building, planned to accommodate various activities and social-cultural events. The building will be situated in the calle Bedoll. The project will take several years over 2019-2021 so that the total cost of up to 900,000 euros can be included in various budgets.
On the 1st November there was a meeting with spokes-persons and councillors from all the municipal groups, during which the principal characteristics of the project were explained, ready for the next full council meeting which will deal with its approval. The municipal experts detailed the construction solutions adopted, taking into account the building’s functions, the types of activities which will be held there and the characteristics of its location. Regarding the layout, it was explained that on the ground floor, there would be the multi-purpose hall, with an adaptable stage, so that events such as school festivals, theatrical shows, concerts, etc., could be held. The Youth Centre will be on the first floor with offices and a large room which could be divided, as required, into smaller rooms in which workshops, conferences or games spaces could be held. Outside the building, the creation of a square is being contemplated to act as a living space and as a communication between the building and the town. It is also planned to situate a car park annexed to the building.
Mayor Francisco Juan said that “the first part of the work would be financed through funds remaining in the treasury so we can proceed with all the processing” and he emphasised that “we wanted to pass on information about the building to all the municipal groups, so that they had all the information prior to the approval of the project”.
