Alcala-Alcossebre Council continues working on alternative possibilities to set in motion an integrated remodelling plan for the old town. Having met with the committee of the Castellón Territorial College of Architects – CTAC and looked at the existence of different institutional assistance programmes, Mayor Francisco Juan and Town Planning councillor, José Miguel Martorell, visited Onda Council to learn how to manage the assistance programmes at a municipal level. Onda councillors Salvador Aguilella and the expert responsible for the Municipal Offices for the reformation of homes, were also at their meeting. Through these assistance plans, interested owners in Onda can request help directly for the refurbishment of their homes and, in some cases, this can reach up to 90% of the cost of the work.
Mayor Francisco Juan said that “we are clear that there is a need to reform our old town centre, to add value to our municipality and also to avoid the depopulation of the centre of Alcalà and generate wealth” and he explained “through the experience of Onda Council, we have seen that it is essential for owners to be interested in renovating their homes and, in this way, that the Council has the tools to be able to choose the assistance plans, etc.” Juan reminded that “our aim, when looking at the 2020 budget, is to include the first actions necessary to set the rehabilitation of the old town centre in motion”.
