The Alcala-Alcossebre municipal socialist group has put forward various amendments to the 2020 budget in which they propose to reduce the expenses by 84,800 euros in areas such as fiestas, the tourism and publicity strategic plan with the aim of dedicating more resources to assistance with school materials, grants, local business and the refurbishment of homes.
Joan Ronchera, the socialist spokesperson, explained that the socialist proposal would eliminate the sections corresponding to the Tourism Strategic Plan by 13,000 euros “as the current plan has not yet been fully implemented”, and that corresponding to the fiestas information campaigns, promised 2,000 euros, “because we believe that there are already communications resources which could include this”.
Also, Ronchera detailed the rest of the amounts which could be reduced such as the Christmas lighting (by 6,500 euros), the patronal fiestas (by 39,000 euros). social provision for staff (8,000 euros), compensation for assistance for collegiate bodies (by 7,300 euros), institutional publicity and communication (by 5,000 euros), postal communication (by 2,000 euros) and the Christmas Park (by 2,000 euros).
According to the socialist, these savings could be destined for assistance for the integral refurbishment of homes (38,000 euros), grants for school materials (10,000 euros), a line of assistance for relaunching local business (20,000 euros) grants for public transport (increase it by 4,000 euros) and university and FP grants (9,800 euros).
