Castellón airport has received offers for each of the three lots which the company is including in its business growth and positioning of the airport in European markets campaign.  They were put out to tender with the objective of winning connections for a period of three years.  The Wizz Air airline was the only one to choose to operate the routes which formed part of the bid, which should mobilise at least 210,000 passengers in total between 2020 and 2023.

Aerocas Managing Director, Joan Serafi Bernat, reported on Friday, 22nd November on the first evaluation meeting pf the committee formed to deal with this tender process.  In the session, the first envelope was opened and they evaluated the administrative documentation submitted by Wizz Air, who had presented one offer per lot.  In later meetings, the committee is to evaluate envelopes 2 and 3, which contain the technical and financial information and which finalise aspects such as the promotional actions, the routes proposed by the airline, the numbers of passengers and the frequency of the flights.

Bernat spoke of his satisfaction, “as offers have been received for each of the three lots which were put out on the market”.  Bernat emphasised the support of Wizz Air for Castellón, “one of the airlines which is growing most in Europe and which has come back to demonstrate their interest in developing Castellón airport, building a fundamental alliance for the infrastructure”.

The Aerocas director said that the business growth campaign and positioning in the European markets involve carrying out promotional activities for Castellón airport linked to the creation of new routes and to increasing the frequencies of existing connections.  The contract will last for three years and is worth a million euros each year.

The campaign is divided into three lots and include different types of route, which from 2020 should incorporate Castellón airport with countries situated within the European Common Aviation Zone (ZECA).  The connections must guarantee progression in the number of passengers in the three years of the plan, and at the same time must bring a minimum of 210,000 passengers all together in the period.

The first lot, with a maximum budget of 400,000 euros per financial year, contemplates setting up the operation of, at least, one route of an annual character.  The offers must guarantee 30,000 passengers in the first year, 35,000 in the second and 40,000 in the third.

The second lot, with up to 350,000 euros per annum, brings together one or various routes of a seasonal nature or annual, which must bring in 20,000 passengers in the first year, 23,000 in the second and 27,000 in the third.

The third lot, with a maximum budget of 250,000 euros per annum, is linked to the launch of one or various routes of a seasonal or annual nature, which must mobilise 10,000 passengers in the first year, 12,000 in the second and 13,000 in the third.
