This year, Alcala-Alcossebre Council is again preparing a full programme for the Christmas festivities dedicated above all to offering alternative leisure for the youngest children and family conciliation. Therefore, the Christmas Park will be held again on 26th, 27th and 28th December in the Espai d’Oci in Alcala and on the 2nd and 3rd January in the Alcossebre CESAL. The Christmas Park will have a recreation area, adventure circuits and movement space, sports activities, a make-up area, handicrafts, photo call and, new this year, a literary forum space. Also, to facilitate families’ participation, there will be a breast feeding and nappy changing area. The Education councillor, Selene Blázquez, emphasised that “with the Christmas Park, our boys and girls can make the most of and enjoy activities in their school holidays and, in this way, families can also reconcile this time better”. The children’s programme will have “Cultupeque” handicrafts, the films “Alladin” in Alcala and “Dumbo” in Alcossebre and two theatrical performances organised by Alcocebre Joven: on Sunday, 29th December given by La Inestable Compañía de Títeres and on Sunday, 12th January, by Splai Castelló.
The Fiestas Department has prepared Christmas events such as the arrival of Father Christmas and his elves on the 24th December and the visit of the Royal Pages to collect the letters to the Three Kings on the 30th December in the La Mola plaza in Alcossebre and on the 2nd January in the church square in Alcala, with bouncy castles, face painting, workshops and hot chocolate from 16.00h.
On Tuesday 31st December, the main event will be the New Year’s Eve fiesta which this year includes children’s activities from 16.30h in the Church square. At 00.30h, Alcala Espai d’Oci will welcome the New Year’s fiesta, entrance is free, with the Orquesta Nuevo Samurai followed by a disco.
The Three Kings procession will take place on the traditional 5th January. In Alcossebre they will arrive from 16.30h and parade through the camino L’Atall, Constitución square and calle Rench to the church. They will arrive in Alcala at 19.00h and will parade through the calles General Cucala, Doctor Seguer, La Palma, Sant Nicolau, plaza Juan Vilanova, Molinet, Sant Joan and the Church Square.
