Alcalà-Alcossebre Council authorises 27 requests for train fare assistance for students
In the three months since introduction of the assistance, 785 euros have been distributed in assistance to students who use the train

Alcala-Alcossebre Council has already processed 27 requests for train fare assistance for students since this new line of assistance came into force, coinciding with the start of the 2019-2020 course. In total, assistance for a value of 785 euros has been authorised. This assistance means subsidising 50% of the ticket price or journey season ticket for the students who use the train to travel to the city where they study. The bylaw also includes assistance for 50% for bus fares for those students who travel from Alcossebre to Alcala station. If requests for assistance continue at the same rate to the end of the year, it is calculated that it could reach processing over 80 requests, for almost 2,500 euros. To ask for the assistance, it is only necessary to present a request to register it at the Council by presenting proof of the travel tickets or season tickets used and, once processed, payment will be made.
Education councillor, Selene Blázquez, pointed out that “with this assistance, as they present the proof students will receive 50% of the total cost of train transport, representing an important financial contribution at the same time as promoting use of the train”.
