Franciso Juan: “We need the new access to Alcala-Alcossebre so that the toll-free AP 7 can be really beneficial for our municipality”
Alcala-Alcossebre Council has requested this through an institutional declaration, as well as for lorry drivers to be able to access the AP-7 from the nearest access

The Mayor of Alcala-Alcossebre, Francisco Juan, has asked the Ministerio de Fomento to take into account the request from the municipality to have a new access to the AP-7 in the Alcala de Xivert municipality, between the current accesses from Torreblanca and Benicarló. Juan noted that “we are delighted that the AP-7 is now toll-free but, as well as this positive circumstance, neither the Valencian Generalitat nor the Ministerio de Fomento has risen to support this measure and see it could be the most beneficial possible for our municipality. We have been asking for over a year for a new access for our municipality and they have taken no measures”. This measure would have very positive consequences, both at a financial level, by improving the access to the El Campaner industrial park – which could mean the setting up of new businesses – and for road safety, by avoiding residents having to use the N-340, which suffers from several black spots where it goes through the municipality.
In July 2018, the council approved an institutional declaration in which it requested the Generalitat Valenciana and the Ministerio de Fomento to include the proposal in the Connections Plan to be applied following the liberalisation of the motorway. The reply from the Generalitat Valenciana indicated that they had not yet formed the follow-up committee for the AP-7 between the Generalitat and the Ministerio de Fomento which would have to study the solutions to improve connectivity. Since then, there has been no further reply received, in spite of sending new documents on the matter. Alcala-Alcossebre Council also urged the Ministerio de Fomento to let local hauliers travel along the N-340 when heading for the nearest access to the AP-7 as currently prohibiting them from travel along the N-340 forces them to have to go to the Torreblanca access, although it is nearer for them to get on at Benicarló- Peñíscola, particularly if that is in the direction of the journey.
