The Diputacion Provincial’s president visited Alcossebre to inspect the storm damage

José Martí, the Diputación Provincial president, and the provincial deputy for Firemen, Abel Ibáñez, went along Alcossebre’s coast, accompanied by the Alcala-Alcossebre Mayor, Francisco Juan, and the Services councillor, Juan Carlos Barceló, to check on the damage caused by the sea storm.  The Mayor thanked the Diputación “for its prompt response, on the Tuesday morning when we requested machinery to be able to start the emergency removal of materials and cleaning” and insisted that “I am sure that both the Generalitat and the central Government will take speedy action so that, in our case, we can re-establish the infrastructures which have been damaged as soon as possible and that Alcossebre will continue to count on its tourist attractions, particularly in view of the imminence of Easter Week”.  The president of the Diputación emphasised “the exceptional nature of this storm” and that “we, Costas, Generalitat and Diputación, must help our coastal towns to continue being tourist reference places and have everything presentable by Easter”.

The main damage to infrastructures is focussed on the wooden walkways which run along the Cargador beach and the Romana beach, as well as the wooden platform on the Romana beach.  The machinery tasks and the cleaning services were focussed on making the camino L’Atall passable and providing access to homes, and then, continuing to clean the pedestrian walks and beaches covered by plant debris, stones and other rubbish coming from the beaches and the sea.
