More seating this year for watching the Carnival processions in Alcala and Alcossebre

Alcala-Alcossebre Council will put 150 more seats in the calle General Cucala in Alcala and the camino L’Atall in Alcossebre, which will be in addition to the over 500 seats for each of the sambódromos. The illumination along the Alcala route will also be improved.

Alcala-Alcossebre Council already has everything ready for the Carnival celebrations, which will take place from 21st to 23rd February in Alcala and on 28th and 29th February in Alcossebre.  To make it more comfortable for the public to see the processions on the 22nd February in Alcala and the 29th February in Alcossebre, this year there will be new seating areas in addition to those which already existed in the spaces known as sambódromos.  150 seats will be put in the calle General Cucala in Alcala, the place from where the groups start processing.  The sambódromo, where there are 570 seats, as is traditional, will be in the plaza Juan Vilanova.  In Alcossebre, 150 more seats will be installed in the camino L’Atall, where the procession starts, and will be in addition to the 570 seats in the sambódromo area installed in the calle Rench.Also, to make the procession more visible, the lighting in the calle General Cucala and calle Doctor Seguer has been improved with new lamps.  This was one of the requests made by the groups which was taken into account by the Fiestas Department.

 

Other changes include the introduction of a procession on Pyjama Night in Alcossebre, on Friday, 28th February, in which the Carnival Queen’s will take part, and the modification of the route for the groups’ procession in Alcossebre, which will be: starting from the camino L’Atall (level with the Restaurante Dora) and continuing via the Plaza Constitución, calle Rench (with the sambódromo installed in front of the health centre), calle Barquer, calle Alcala and Avenida Valencia.

 

Alcala Carnival starts tonight, Friday, with processions of the Lo Campanar Primary School, the Unitat de Respir users and the Alcala infants school.  At 22.00 the Carnival procession and at 22.30 h, the arrival of the King Don Carnal and the proclamation of the Carnival queen, Clara Cerdán.
