The Alcala de Xivert Socialist Group has shown their “great discontent” with the Partido Popular’s municipal government because it has made removed the “recurring section” of 170,000 euros to continue carrying out the Drainage Plan from the 2020 budget. As the socialist spokesperson, Joan Ronchera, explained, according to the municipal government, already in November 2019 they were studying the possibility of financing the plan via another route and in consequence were preparing a report. However, the reality is that the famous report never materialised and the budgets include 0 euros to renew this very necessary and urgent municipal drainage network”.
Ronchera reminded that in the last legislature, the socialist group proposed the approval of a Municipal Drainage Management Plan with the proposal that the complete drainage network be investigated and that suitable measures to repair it be proposed.
The municipal socialist group’s spokesperson asserts that “The plan’s conclusions were done away with: Alcala and Alcossebre need their drainage network and infrastructures updated at a value of over 15 million euros, and the priority actions amounted to 2.5 million euros”.
Apart from the annual approval of the plan, an amount of 170,000 euros was approved in the budgets to carry out the tasks to improve the drainage network. Also, initially complementary works were carried out under the budgets. The socialist group was satisfied because, at last, after so many years of being abandoned by the PP, a plan existed and was being carried out, but now we are going back to an investment of 0 euros for this project which is so necessary for the municipality”, Ronchera concluded.
