Alcala-Alcossebre orders the closure of municipal facilities and suspends sports, social and cultural activities

Alcala-Alcossebre Council has ordered the temporary closure of municipal facilities, adopting measures in compliance with the health authorities recommendations on COVID-19.  With effect from 13th March and for, at least, 14 days, municipal facilities will be closed and cultural, social and sports activities which are held in the Hogar del Jubilado in Alcalà and Alcossebre, CESAL  in Alcalà (except academic activity of the Escola de Persones Adultes), CESAL in Alcossebre, Pabellón Polideportivo in Alcalà, municipal gymnasiums in Alcalà and Alcossebre, sports facilities, Espai d’Oci in Alcalà, municipal premises of the Amas de Casa in Alcalà, Casa de la Cultura, the Danses rehearsal room and the Alcalà football pitch.  From the 16th March, and also for 14 days, the Unitat de Respir Familiar will be closed temporarily, taking into account the special risk situation of its users.

 

It has also been decided to suspend municipal activities programmed for the next few weeks such as the Book Club, the workshop for families on the use of social networks, the Female Personal Self-defence course, Alcossebre Yankee and the Health and Welfare Days.  Also, local bodies and associations are requested to avoid meetings and events which could attract masses of people.

 

On Thursday morning a coordination meeting was held with all the council departments, Local Police, people in charge of the Health Centre and Azahar Association for health resources to control the measures the Council counts on in case of having to attend emergency situations.  There was also a meeting with all the municipal spokespersons to pass on to them all the measures adopted.

 

The Mayor, Francisco Juan, said that “we are taking the measures according to the directives the health authorities are giving us  We request our men and women residents to respect the hygiene recommendations to the maximum and to act calmly and prudently.  In the event of needing it, you can call by phone to 900 300 555 where you will be given all the information by the health authorities”.
