Alcala-Alcossebre asks to be able to carry out tests on essential workers
The Mayor of Alcala-Alcossebre Francisco Juan said it was a priority to be able to carry out control tests for COVID-19 on the whole population. Therefore, as a first essential measure, he has requested the Health Department – by letters sent to the Consellera, Territorial director and manager of the Health Department – to be able to carry out tests on the professionals who are carrying out work on the front line in the municipality and who are in direct contact with the people – including the groups at risk – such as members of the municipal Social Services and Local Police. Mayor Francisco Juan insisted that “with this first measure we would prevent possible transmissions of the coronavirus in Alcala-Alcossebre and, the Council is ready to take charge financially of these tests for these Council workers, including the Guardia Civil officers in the Alcala-Alcossebre command”. Juan also asks that the Health Conselleria authorises the professionals in the Alcala-Alcossebre health centres to carry out these tests, as it would be the quickest and easiest way of accessing the results.
“Our guard cannot be reduced and, with the progressive exit from the lockdown, forceful measures must be taken because, if not, it could aggravate the situation. Therefore, our aim would be for the whole population to be able to have access to these tests assuming the proportional cost for each involved administration. I am convinced that the best and only way of putting a brake on the contagion is to carry out these massive tests in the population as all the experts recommend”, Mayor Francisco Juan insisted
