Alcala-Alcossebre Council will allow restaurants and bars, whenever they are allowed to resume their activities, to increase the area of their terraces,.  With this measure, they would have to ensure that they comply with the social distancing regulations and, at the same time, enable them to maintain their capacity.  In response to requests from tourism businesses, the measure would mean being able to maintain the authorised number of tables and chairs, but increasing the area so that they can keep up the forecast turnover.  In every case, pedestrians must be able to have room to pass by and have access.

“We know that hostelry businesses are going to be the most affected by the crisis caused by the pandemic, and therefore we believe that this is a very positive measure.  By increasing the area they occupy on the public streets, they will be able to continue running their business and complying with the health recommendations”, Mayor Francisco Juan explained.

This measure is in addition to suspending the payment for occupying street areas for tables, chairs and terraces throughout 2020 and for those businesses which have already paid the fee, their payments will be returned to them.
