On the 4th May Alcala-Alcossebre Council started distributing masks to the whole population. The first batch was 3,000 masks acquired by the Council and the delivery of a further 3,000 acquired also by the council through the Provincial Diputación. The masks were given out from four distribution points – two in Alcala and two in Alcossebre – in a civilised and orderly way by residents. It is calculated that on 4th May, 1,000 masks for adults and about 100 children were delivered. The distribution continued on Wednesday and Friday, between 10.00h and 13.00h: in Alcala, in the CESAL building – for people with surnames beginning from A to K – and in the Casa de la Cultura – for people with surnames beginning with L to Z – and in Alcossebre, in the Municipal Offices – with surnames beginning from A to K – and in the Municipal Library – with surnames beginning with L to Z-.
“We have promised that all our residents will have masks and this will happen”, Mayor Francisco Juan emphasised, and reminded that “there are factual recommendations from the health authorities about when to use the masks, so I ask my neighbours always to wear them when necessary, in order to prevent infection”.
