Alcala-Alcossebre Council increases aid for the refurbishment of facades and improvements to accessibility
Among measures to alleviate the financial effects of COVID-19
Alcala-Alcossebre Council approved increasing two existing headings for assistance as part of the measures focussed on alleviating the financial effects of COVID-19. These amounts relate to the refurbishment of facades and roofs and the improvement to accessibility in homes and shops.
Regarding the refurbishment of façades and roofs, the amount has been increased by 22,000 euros from the original planned 28,000 to the maximum of 50,000 euros. The assistance has been increased to the maximum: previously, homes situated in the central old part of town could choose assistance up to a maximum of 3,000 euros and now it can be 4,000 euros. In the case of homes outside the old part of town, they could have up to a maximum of 2,000 euros and now they can have as much as 3,000 euros.
For assistance with accessibility, the amount has been doubled, rising from the initial 5,000 euros to 10,000 euros and, as the main change, for homes, previously the assistance was restricted to elderly people over the age of 65 years or with mobility problems and now any male or female resident may choose to have it. The type of works envisaged, in the case of homes, is changing the bath for a shower. As proposed by the municipal Compromis group, there will be a study of how homes can apply for this assistance with any work related to improving accessibility.
“This assistance has a double objective: on the one hand, to help families who want to improve their homes and, on the other, to encourage work which can be carried out by local companies in sectors such as construction, plumbing, electricals, etc”. Mayor Francisco Juan explained.
