Alcala-Alcossebre Council hopes that the Conselleria will carry out tests for local Police and Social Services staff

Alcala-Alcossebre Council is urging the Health Department to carry out tests for all the municipal workers who are in the front line and in direct contact with the public, such as Local Police officers and Social Service staff.  The council meeting approved an institutional declaration, which has already been sent to the Generalitat Valenciana, in which all the municipal groups request the autonomous administration to carry out the tests to diagnose those with possible positive COVID-19 symptoms in the midst of the municipal staff team, aiming to prevent them infecting the population.  It also requests that the tests should be carried out in the Alcala and Alcossebre health centres, to speed up the results so that then, in a progressive manner, tests would be able to be carried out on the public to guarantee rate of infection and put a brake on the coronavirus infection spreading.

“We continue insisting that the only way to put a brake on the COVID-19 infection spreading and to ensure controlling it, is to carry out the tests.  If the Health Department is not going to carry out the tests in our municipality, that they should tell us and the Council will carry them out, using private laboratories and with the council taking on the cost” Mayor Francisco Juan stated.
