Alcala-Alcossebre Council is preparing to open the open-air municipal sports facilities, in the event that Phase 1 of the de-escalation comes into force from Monday 11th May in the Comunitat Valenciana.  One of the novel steps of Phase 1 is that open-air sports facilities will be able to be used without public for ‘no-contact’ sports.  In this case, the facilities being adapted for this regulation are the Alcala and Alcossebre tennis and padel courts which will be opened for use by residents following a series of protective measures: only the singles game will be authorised, never for couples; the use of changing rooms will be completely forbidden, meaning that people will have to go already changed; strictly only the equipment necessary for practising the sport can be brought and access to the facilities will be on an individual basis, always keeping the 2 metres safe distance.

Before going to the game courts, users must disinfect their hands with hydroalcoholic gel, and while playing the sport, again approximately every 15 minutes.  In order to use the courts, it is essential to make a telephone reservation first on 663.360.143 so that the users do not meet in either the communal areas or on the courts.  Also, the court must not be changed during the game and there must be no greeting between users, preventing physical contact and each person must use their own racquet exclusively.

The facilities will be completely disinfected periodically before opening and before and after each use, both facilities and the equipment.

Sports councillor, Jordi Batiste, visited the facilities with the concessionary company, so that all is ready and will be coordinated for both the reopening and the safety and hygiene measures in the event that the move to Phase 1 is decreed,.  Batiste asked users to “make responsible use of the courts as, at present, safety and health are the priorities”.
