Alcala-Alcossebre is carrying out treatments for the common mosquito and the tiger mosquito in various areas of the municipality

Alcala-Alcossebre Council is carrying out treatments against mosquitos, both the common and the tiger mosquitos, aiming to combat possible existing focal points and prevent their proliferation.  It is happening in the areas surrounding the centres of population, as well as the wet lands and scuppers, so that their proliferation is prevented in urban areas.  The treatments have been applied in Bassa Llona and its surroundings, the L’Abà irrigation channel, the el Gitano river bed, the football pitch and camino San Miguel, the Estope rambla, Sól de Riu and surroundings and the Capicorb area.

The company awarded the contract to carry out the various preventive actions throughout the year, started applying these specific treatments as temperatures started to rise.  The Service Department is coordinating the various preventive actions to guarantee the non-proliferation of mosquitos during the summer period.

Once again, residents are asked to inspect their private properties to ensure for themselves that there is no stagnant water which could generate the proliferation of mosquitos.  Other measures to take into account are watching out for dripping watering hoses, the accumulation of water in gutters, protecting wells and cisterns, maintaining adequate levels of chlorine in swimming pools, checking hollow trees and changing the water in bowls for animals daily
