Libertad de la buena is the slogan for the tourist promotion campaign which Alcalà-Alcossebre Council is promoting, presenting the municipality as the “ideal” destination for spending the summer holidays following the lock-down situation and restrictive measures generated by COVID-19.

The concept of the campaign is based on the municipality’s characteristics, large natural parks such as the Sierra d’Irta and the Columbretes islands, big beaches, accommodation available based above all on tourist lets and space, generally, uncrowded spaces, which match all the aspects most requested by tourists and visitors this summer.  In this way, the concept of liberty, which will be in most demand this summer, is enriched with a special quality of “goodness”, which the area possesses.

The campaign will be broadcast mainly on social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) and will be aimed at the national tourist, whose interests are holidays at the coast, with cultural, gastronomic and sports concerns, who travel in their own car and as a family or a couple.  Regarding the captive markets, these are, Madrid, Aragón, La Rioja and País Vasco, as well as Valencia and Castellón province.

The head of the Tourist Department, Selene Blázquez, emphasised that “we are a privileged destination with natural open spaces and uncrowded tourist resources and, with this campaign, we are trying to retain those visitors who already know us and awaken interest in the national tourist who is looking for a nearby destination where the beach, nature and the heritage resources can be enjoyed with all possible safety”.

Two previous actions to prepare the destination

As well as the tourist promotion campaign, the Council has driven two further actions to prepare the destination and to motivate businesses and workers in the sector following the sudden stop suffered because of the pandemic.

The first action is called #Enforma and aims to show the preparations which businesses and the Council are carrying out to have all the public and private spaces ready for occupation by the tourists.  The objective is to prepare these spaces safely and professionally as well as in compliance with the corresponding health measures.  The action includes participation by bosses and workers in businesses and the Council, with photos and videos in which they appear carrying out these tasks.  Different local businesses are the scenery in which the scenes are rolled out for potential visitors to receive and to demonstrate the quality of the services offered in the locality.

The second action, named #EquipoA aims to involve all the town’s men and women together in the important activity which tourism is for the town in terms of generating finance and employment.  To stage this involvement, 3,000 posters will be distributed with the image of this action.  These are to be exhibited in commercial and tourist establishments and individual homes, in an opportunity for the ‘local team to be committed to its values’.

This action will be complemented with a photographic competition aimed at residents and visitors, in which the participants will have to show the image of the #EquipoA, for which the prizes will be contributions in kind from the tourist businesses (accommodation, lunches and dinners, boat trips…), corresponding with the drive from the Council in setting up this campaign.
