Alcala-Alcossebre announces the calendar of tourist activities for the coming months

The activities start on Sunday 21st June with a “Mycological Walk” in Cala Blanca

[Img #78990]Alcala-Alcossebre Tourism Department has announced the calendar of tourist activities for the coming months.  Due to the declaration of the state of emergency, the calendar – which in other years included activities from March – has had to be adapted and concentrates all the events from the end of June until December.  The first event will take place on Sunday 21st June, from 6pm on Cala Blanca, and will consist of a walking route during which plants with special properties will be discovered.  The calendar continues with photographic walking activities, meetings to “chase sunsets”, cycling tourism, dramatized routes planned above all for family tourism, gastronomic walking – with a visit to the hanging tomato fields -, historic cycling tourism in English and mycological walks.  In everything, there is an excellent opportunity to get into the extensive natural heritage in the municipality, with visits to spaces in the Sierra d’Irta Natural Park and its monumental resources, like the Xivert castle and the Santa Lucía chapel.

The calendar also includes guided visits to the centre of Alcala de Xivert along “The Heritage of the Temple” route, which goes through the history of the municipality following the footsteps of the Templars, leading to a better knowledge of the baroque church and the bell tower, the modernist houses and the less well-known vestiges which awaken interest.  The visit will take place at different times, and during the months of July and August will happen on every Wednesday and Sunday.

Sign up in the Tourist Office for all these activities, which cost 5 euros each for adults and 3 euros each for pensioners, large families and children.

Tourism councillor, Selene Blázquez, emphasised that “once again, we are depending on these types of activity, which take place in the open air and which are very attractive for our visitors not only in the high season but during the greater part of the year because of their wide variety”.  Blázquez stated that “in all cases, there will be an official guide and the necessary hygiene and preventive measures within the antiCOVID-19 protocols will have to be observed”.

Leaflets containing all the information about the activities can be obtained from the Tourist Office and municipal offices or on the municipal websites www.alcaladexivert.es and www.alcossebre.org
