The CIE - Ethnological Information Centre – at the Alcala de Xivert Santa Lucía has now reopened its doors, incorporating the new safety measures regarding COVID-19. The centre is open from Wednesday to Sunday, all day from 10.00h to 17.00h. With the safety measures, it is mandatory to use a mask, wash your hands with sanitiser gel and disinfect the soles of your shoes on a mat at the entrance door to the area. Capacity is limited to 6 people at a time, with the unique exception of larger groups from the same family nucleus.
To make the information more easily and safely available, the explanatory leaflets on the Centre’s contents and the history of Santa Lucía have been scanned, transforming them into QR codes which can be scanned at the entrance to the Centre. This information is available in Valencian, Spanish and English and is a way to avoid the handling of leaflets by several people.
The visit to the CIE is free but information specialists will be able to guide visitors on the contents of the explanatory panels, models and reproductions of the archaeological remains which were found in the area. Completing the information, there is also a video on the historical wealth of the place and the results of the archaeological excavations, with finds dating from the Bronze Age, the Iron Age and the Islamic era.
Cultural councillor, María Agut, reminded that “we opened the CIE at the end of 2019 and now we have adapted it for the measures demanded by COVID-19. In the period during which we receive more visitors in our municipality, we hope that they will take advantage of this new cultural and tourist resource where we are exhibiting our history and giving it value”.
