Alcala-Alcossebre Council has communicated the suspension of the local patronal fiestas, which were due to be held between the 21st and 31st August in Alcala and from the 9th to the 13th September in Alcossebre.  The decision was taken after testing the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and the existence of spikes in other municipalities and at all times taking into consideration maximum preservation of health for our male and female residents.  The council had already suspended all the events which could have attracted large crowds of people, both in June and July, and now it has been decided to suspend the patronal fiestas with all the events they might have contained.

“We wanted to wait to see whether the pandemic could be controlled during out fiestas dates but, in view of the spikes which are happening in other municipalities and considering the safety of all our residents, we have decided to suspend the patronal fiestas as health must come before everything else” Mayor Francisco Juan announced.

The measure was communicated to the spokespersons of all the municipal groups, the festeras from 2019 who continued their mandate this year, the Comisión Taurina and local associations which traditionally collaborate in the organisation of the fiestas.
