On 29th July, Alcala-Alcossebre Council unanimously approved a credit modification to make investments which were not forecast in the 2020 municipal budget. The most important is the action to improve road safety and movement along the Las Fuentes Carretera, with a sum of 200,000 euros. With this change of credit and with the processes for acquiring the land, the council will be able to arrange to start the work which will involve the installation of new lighting and the construction of a cycle track and pedestrian pavement, in the first phase of the work. Later, the following phases will be carried out as the project is to extend from the Las Fuentes roundabout to the Tossalet roundabout. Mayor Francisco Juan emphasised that “it deals with work which will mean improving road safety for everyone travelling along the road, and, above all, of those who choose to do it on foot or by bike”.
The credit change also foresees investing 6,300 euros in new ventilation equipment for the Alcala Pensioners’ Centre and 3,650 euros for agreements with the three education centres for the purchase of school diaries.
On the other hand, they also approved 172,000 euros from those remaining in the funds to increase sections to deal with matters such as the extraordinary expenses on health materials caused by COVID-19, repairs caused by storm Gloria, a new Local Employment Plan, supply of electric power, beach and road maintenance, street furniture and access actions, paving and improvement of the town environment.
