Alcala-Alcossebre Council requests intensified and greater investment for Primary Attention and Public Health
Alcala-Alcossebre Council approved an Institutional Declaration which, remembering the limits to which the health system situation has been subjected due to COVID-19, requests the Generalitat Valenciana and central Government for greater support for Primary Attention and Public Health. The municipal Compromis group presented the motion, which, completed with contributions from the Partido Popular and with all the municipal groups supporting it, became an Institutional Declaration.
In the text of the declaration, it put special emphasis on the development of the 2011 general Law for Public Health which should have taken into consideration the materialisation of a State Network of Public Health Surveillance which does not exist and which “is fundamental to provide the necessary measures for Public Health so that in situations, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, it had included all the material and human measures to ensure that a serious situation of shortages of material such as we have seen, could not return”. At the level of municipal management, it was recognised that “on the part of the municipalities, we had no more efficient communication link between the Health Department and the Councils as with the pandemic very advanced, information was not made available to the Councils on the number of those affected in the municipalities. This then left the Councils in a situation of complete uncertainty about the text, meaning that it was an added difficulty at the time of giving priority to certain actions and establishing preventive measures to avoid infection”.
Finally, the Council requests that the Health Centres should be provided with the necessary resources for best diagnosis and treatment and urges the Generalitat Valenciana to carry out information campaigns which place value on the importance of the Public Health.
