The PSPV-PSOE celebrates “the change in criteria” from the Alcala-Alcossebre mayor and that “finally” he is supporting public infants’ education
Today the PSPV-PSOE spokesperson on the Alcala-Alcossebre Council, Joan Ronchera, celebrated that the Mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, had “changed the criteria” with regard to the ownership of the municipal nursery schools and that “he has finally accepted our thesis in defence of public education”. Ronchera expressed this after learning that the Partido Popular governing group has decided to start the processes to end with the concession of the service in the Alcossebre ‘little school’ and to include it in the Generalitat’s network.
Ronchera defended that “education has to be public, free and of quality” and stated that one of the PSPV-PSOE’s promises in the Valencian Generalitat is to guarantee schooling for 2- and 3-year-old children at no cost. “we had it in our programme and always complained about it to the mayor, who up until now had decided to look the other way”. Because of this, in spite of saying that the decision “arrived late”, we are pleased because it will mean “a considerable improvement in the education which our children receive and also important savings for the families, as it will be the Consell which will pay the cost of the courses for 2 years”.
Among the benefits which this new service will bring will be the possibility for parents of children using the service between the ages of 0- and 2-years to be able to choose the assistance vouchers which the Generalitat calls for each year. In this way, the socialist spokesperson criticised that, in the event that the new ownership of the ‘little school’ is approved before the start of the school year, the families would not be able to access the assistance “because of the governing group’s delay at the time of asking the Generalitat for this service”. Another benefit will be that pupils will have a regulated curriculum from the start of their school life. Additionally, the little ones from 0- to 2-years old will be able to choose the assistance vouchers.
The spokesperson requested the mayor to ask the Valencian Generalitat to also attach the Alcala central ‘little school’ to the Valencian Community’s public education network. “We shall keep hoping and we shall continue complaining to the Popular Party to demand more services for our municipality”.
