Alcala de Xivert Council and FACSA, as part of their commitment to improving and renewing local drinking water supply service installations, have carried out an important improvement to guarantee the supply in the higher area of Las Fuentes.  The work consisted of designing and installing a new infrastructure in the area of the “Sobrón” water tank, in the intermediate las Fuentes area.  The installation includes a new group of pumps which will improve the supply of water to the upper area of the place in the event of there being any damage and will facilitate its maintenance without people’s supply being affected.

Among the actions carried out, the inside of the water tank has been made watertight and the beams supporting the cover have been refurbished.  The pump group is made up from three vertical pumps which bring the volume needed by the upper area of las Fuentes, guaranteeing the minimum pressure needed so that people do not see the quality of the supply die down when this new installation starts working.

With this new infrastructure, the possible cuts in supply which users suffered in the upper part of Las Fuentes will be solved during the refurbishments actions which are planned to be carried out in the upper water tank during future months.  This is the water tank which, until now, served this area.  To design the work to the Upper water tank, it was considered that the installation should be permanent and not temporary, so that it would guarantee the future supply to people from various supply points in the case of events or maintenance tasks in either of the two feeder tanks, “Sobrón” and Upper.

Mayor Francisco Juan reminded that “the ongoing works being carried out to renew and improve the drinking water network throughout the municipality, will lead to us having one of the most modern and efficient networks in the province”.
