Educación, Cultura y Deporte and the Alcalà de Xivert-Alcossebre Council for the creation of a first-year infants’ school in the locality.
This first-year infants’ school, labelled ‘Municipal Número 2’, owned by the municipality, will have two infant education units distributed as follows, one for children from 0 to 2 years, with 8 places available and the other, for children from 2-3 years old with up to 15 places available.
In this agreement, the council commits to complying with the applicable regulation which establishes the minimum requirements for centres which give general teaching.
Thus, the council will have to follow the academic directives of the education Administration for centres dependent on the Department of Education, Culture and Sport and present a general annual programme setting out the academic data each academic year.
Selene Blázquez, the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council Education councillor, said that “This Council has always wanted to provide an educational response for pupils from 0 to 3 years old in our town, and therefore we have been supporting this infant school service for many years”
“The Council adapted and prepared the municipality’s own buildings so the service could be achieved complying with the infant schools regulations, we subsidised two companies which managed the infant schools with a total of 28,000 euros annually; created a means of help for the pupils and it is the Council which took charge of half of the costs of supplies, always taking into consideration the good of the families”, she explained.
The Education councillor asserts that “for this reason, following with this willingness, we wanted to take another step, and as we have no Generalitat Valenciana Public Infants Schools, we have asked to have responsibility in educational material to sign this agreement with the Generalitat and create an Infant School in the name of the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council. The agreement approved today by the Consell meeting ratifies the petition on the part of the Council. The service will continue to be provided in the same way and does not mean any change for the families”.
