The Social Welfare and Equality Department, through the Pangea Office, is holding a new cookery workshop “Learning to cook differently” which, during four sessions, will bring together the members of the Alcala Women’s Association with women from the migrant group of residents in the locality. The first workshop took place on Wednesday 21st October and the following sessions will take place on 28th October, 4th November and 11th November. The sessions consist of preparation of “gaspatxeras” (Alcala) recipes with other recipes from the countries from which the participants come. The aim of this type of activities is to encourage cultural exchange and integration, using gastronomy as a uniting link.
Councillor Melina Fradejas, who accompanied the participants on the first day of the workshop, pointed out that “initiatives like this help us to achieve integration in day to day actions”.
