The Alcala de Xivert PSPV-PSOE has proposed a reduction of 112,800 euros for the 2021 budget under headings such as the Government Committees and rents, among other things, in order to use this amount for social assistance, business support measures and the fight against climate change.

The group’s spokesperson, Joan Ronchera, details that reducing “unnecessary and poorly gauged expenses” could be invested in other “more important and urgent” needs for local men and women.

Thus, these proposals would be assistance to reduce the digital division in the homes which most need it, assistance for businesses and small companies for expenses derived from the measures of disinfection and security for COVID-19 and a line of assistance for entrepreneurs to “incentivise the opening of businesses and revitalising the local economic fabric”.

Ronchera also proposes the creation of a transport voucher to “contribute to the environmental sustainability” and another voucher for school material to “facilitate families with less resources being able to pay for the educational expenses of their sons and daughters”.

Regarding the fight against climate change, there would be measures such as a study plan for the energy efficiency of the municipal buildings, the progressive implantation of the osmosis in all the taps in public buildings and assistance to drive and encourage sustainable agriculture.

The socialist group says that “the times we are living in are very complicated, and that is why the socialists understand that the administrations must face up to tasks such as the rapid and efficient response to reduce the devastating effects of the pandemic, the attention to the needs of the most vulnerable people and the reinforcing of the wellfare state, the incentivisation of the financial fabric, the labour market and the implementation of environmentally sustainable policies”.
