Alcala-Alcossebre wins the three flowers honour awarded by Towns in Bloom

Alcala-Alcossebre Council has received recognition from the Towns in Bloom initiative renewing the honour of the three flowers flag, awarded by ASFPLANT (the Valencian Community Professional Association of Flowers, Plants & Horticultural Technology). The event was held in the council as, due to the pandemic, it was not possible to hold the usual event with all the prizewinning towns present. Services, Agriculture and Environment councillor, Juan Carlos, and Deputy Mayor, María Agut, received the award from Ricardo Aznar, director of the Centreverd company, one of the patrons of the initiative. Carlos Cherta was also present, as the representative of the company which holds the concession in the municipality for the maintenance of public gardens and trees.
On behalf of the Council, they gave thanks for the recognition pointing out that “we give our support for actions such as the ongoing care of our trees, so that the species are healthy and safe; we replace chemical products by using low environmental impact methods; we decorate streets and squares with abundant flowers and we are planting more trees and shrubs to maintain and increase the existing green growth and we are teaching the youngest children about these values, developing various campaigns such as Tree Day”. Following the good reception by the town for the renovation of the Juan Vilanova and Justo Zaragozà squares, in which the planting protagonists were plant species such as Ficus and rose bushes, the Council is continuing to back increasing green areas, starting now with the new park project in Alcala, which will occupy 10,000 sq. metres at the south entrance to the town and where native species and vegetation will be placed, to contribute to improving the different leisure spaces which can be found in the park, such as children’s play areas, dog walking areas, healthy exercise machines, etc.
