Alcala-Alcossebre Council has announced its programme of events for Christmas in their efforts to continue organising events to maintain the expectation and magic of these dates, above all among local boys and girls, but at the same time ensuring compliance with all the safety measures against COVID-19. Mayor Francisco Juan pointed out that “we have spent weeks working and planning how to be able to organise all the programme and, in the case of the Three Kings processions, with particular consideration to the circuits, with controlled entrances and limited crowds and all those attending seated and keeping at the safe distance”.
As is traditional, the processions will be held on the 5th January, at 16.30h in Alcossebre and at 19.00h in Alcala, in the paseo Héroes de Marruecos. Different accesses and exits will be set up in the sectors along the routes and all those attending will have to show their entrance ticket on arrival and will have a reserved seat to ensure compliance with the safety measures. Families can collect their free tickets between Wednesday, 16th December and Sunday, 3rd January. From Wednesday to Sunday at 10.00h to 15.00h in the Alcala Tourist Office and from 10.15h to 17.30h from Monday to Sunday from the Alcossebre Tourist Office.
The Christmas programme will begin on Thursday 24th December, with Father Christmas in a large igloo installed in the Ricardo Cardona square in Alcala from 10.00h until 16.00h where he will tell a story to all those present in the presence of his elves. In the La Mola square in Alcossebre, at 16.00h, Father Christmas will be present in an aerostatic balloon. On Saturday, 26th, there will be a story-telling event limited to 150 people, all seated, at 17.00h in the Ricardo Cardona square and at 18.30h the Royal Pages will arrive to collect the letters addressed to the Three Kings. On Saturday, 2nd January, at 17.00h, there will be a magic show by Vengala and Maleta in the La Mola square in Alcossebre and at 18.30h, the arrival of the Royal Pages and collection of letters.
Fiestas councillor, Jordi Batiste, said “all the planned events will be held in the open air observing the appropriate safety measures, so we are asking families to respect them fully and to enjoy these events so that the youngest can continue feeling the magic of Christmas”.
