Alcala-Alcossebre Council is carrying out awareness and prevention actions to avoid the younger population taking drugs. For a second consecutive year, the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Local Police have given talks to pupils in the first and second years at the ESO of the Serra d’Irta Secondary School in Alcala de Xivert, aiming to prevent the consumption of drugs and alerting them to the consequences which could result for people. The talks were given by the Official in charge of the Unidad de Menores and were adapted to meet the current health situation to comply with all the safety and hygiene measures.
The Local Police Chief, Abel Serret, states that “this initiative was agreed last year with the educational centre for the prevention of drug consumption from a young age, with the aim in this way of avoiding both the consumption and the consequences, referring both to health and those reflected in the school work, which leads, in some cases, to the abandonment of studies during this stage or obligatory education”.
Both the Council and the educational centre have very positive assessments of the work carried out by the talks through the importance and repercussions which they have on these adolescents, so that the councillor for Citizen Safety, Selene Blázquez, adds that “we are going to continue supporting this type of preventive action to avoid the pupils starting in the world of drugs by making them aware of the dangers it brings”.
