This will be discussed at the next full Council meeting which will be held on 27th January

Alcala-Alcossebre Council will extend the exemption, from the 1st January to the 30th June, from paying to occupy the public carriageway for tables, chairs and exhibits which was applied in 2020, within the financial measures to assist local businesses and restaurants and bars.  For this, the modification to the regulatory fiscal Decree for the Authorisation and Right to Utilisation of the Public Domain and the Municipal Byelaw for Occupation of the Public Way will be discussed at the next full Council meeting to be held on 27th January.  In this way, the places which have a license to occupy the public carriageway will not have to pay the taxes until 1st July 2021. In the same way, the maximum percentage increase of the terraces by up to 100% of the metres for those which they hold the concession will be regulated.  The request of an interested party will be necessary as well as the favourable report from the Council.  This will combine promotion of economic activity and facilitate the use of terraces and spaces in the open air with accessibility and people passing, thus preventing the concentration of people in closed spaces.  The Council had also promoted the pedestrianisation of the streets in the centre of Alcossebre during 2020.

This measure is in the process of public consultation because, up to the 18th January, citizens who are considering it can deliver their opinions on the matter through email to participa@alcaladexivert.es

Mayor Francisco Juan explained that “we are taking this measure to continue facilitating local business activity and economy and supporting local business people, during the difficult situation we are living in due to the pandemic.  Therefore, we are extending the exemption of payment for the occupation of the public carriageway which we applied during 2020 for all the establishments and only charged for the occupation during the second half of the year”.
