As a strategy in 2021, José Martí is supporting prioritising programmes to assist municipalities in their economic reactivation and winning European funds

The president of Castellón Diputación, José Martí, met with the heads of the provincial institution’s technical services to define the strategy for 2021 and “prioritise all those programmes which have to give the support which councils need in facing economic reactivation in the province”.

Martí, who was accompanied by deputies Santi Pérez, Ximo Huguet and Ignasi Garcia, considers that the “Diputación must lead the recuperation of the 135 municipalities”, so he had given the different technical areas “the greatest involvement in order that the assistance which is included in the Reactivem Castelló 2021 budget could be available as soon as possible”.

The president of the Diputación also remarked on the importance of winning European funds, which will be another of the great strategies for this year with the goal of combating the negative effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

On this, it should be remembered that last December the Castellón Diputación sent 17 reports to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Miteco) for projects of a provincial nature related to areas of sustainable digital, social welfare and heritage work as a response to the call from the ministry for winning European funds for reconstruction.

The 17 projects chosen are assessed at more than 81 million euros and tackle basic aspects which motivate the financial lines of the Next Generation and which would particularly benefit municipalities in Castellón with less than 5,000 inhabitants to set up the change of paradigm for the new decade in the least populated areas.

The president of the Diputación has also requested the heads of the different technical areas of the house to pass on to all the workers “our thanks for the great effort made to be able to approve some historic accounts, for 168.3 million, which are without doubt the work tool to tackle the 2021 challenges”
