Covid19
Alcala-Alcossebre is asking for a plan for vaccination against COVID-19 in the municipality, to include essential sectors and teaching staff and non-teaching people as priorities
On 29th January Alcala-Alcossebre Council approved an institutional declaration which focused on the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The text of the declaration merges two motions, presented by the Partido Popular and Compromis. First, it requests more information on the calendar and planning for the vaccination which the municipality is going to follow. The Health councillor, Melina Fradejas, explained that “our men and women residents are asking us when they are going to be vaccinated and we do not know what to tell them because Councils are not getting this information” and she emphasised that “it would be good for us to be able to coordinate all the measures better which have to be prepared for the vaccination of the population”.
Regarding the sectors for vaccination, the declaration urges the Spanish Government to carry out a technical study to include teaching staff and non-teaching staff who work in the educational centres in Phase II of the vaccination Strategy. Also, that men and women working in essential services should be included (staff in food shops, pharmacies, those in the agricultural sector companies, etc.) as “they have already had to be on the front line during the emergency state and must continue being there”. Also, the Health Conselleria is urged to urgently vaccinate the men and women using it and staff in the Unitat de Respir Familiar and to elderly people in the municipality as “this is the most vulnerable group and is at the greatest risk in the population”.
