Alcala-Alcossebre Councill will devote 150,551 euros from the treasury’s remaining 2020 funds to the creation of new aid destined to reactivate the local economy, encourage consumption in the local establishments and help the sectors most affected by the crisis caused by the COVID-19.
The “Good for you, for the town” will have a share of 70,000 euros which will consist of distributing two 5 euros vouchers to every person registered in the municipality – including boys and girls – which they can spend in the local businesses. The Treasury councillor, María Agut, explained that “this assistance has a double aim as, besides benefiting the establishments, it ends up benefitting every resident”. Also, she emphasised that the impact it could mean for local consumption as “the minimum purchase, at the time of using the vouchers, will be 10 euros, through which we ensure that the Council’s investment ends up doubling itself for the businesses”.
The “Reobri” help, to which 30,000 euros are assigned, will be aimed at the establishments which have been obliged to close their activity temporarily by being directly affected by a positive case among its workers.
Also, the Council is considering the municipal contribution of 50,551 euros necessary to activate the Generalitat Valenciana Paréntesis assistance which would be a total of 337,009 euros. The council is already preparing the bases to be able to call upon this assistance rapidly.
Mayor Francisco Juan emphasised that “as we move forward, we believe in a new package of direct aid for the sectors, like business, which are not included in the Paréntesis assistance and we support assistance which is an alternative and which is adaptable to the situation in which we are living”.
It is planned that the budget modifications necessary to bring forward these new aids are to be dealt with at an extraordinary council meeting to be held next week, during which the liquidation of the 2020 budget will also be taken into account.
