Work starts on the large green area and leisure space in Alcala de Xivert
Work has already started on the new park and green area in Alcala de Xivert with the work preparing the land which will be used to bring this new space into reality, which is situated next to the municipal football pitch, at the south entrance to Alcala town. The project includes the construction of a great social co-existence point, with spaces aimed at different groups of the population: a large castle as a children’s attraction, educational resources, garden beds, a rest area and pergolas, circuit with fitness apparatus, an area for pets and picnics. The type of construction is mainly garden beds with paths, with a concrete route and areas of compacted soil. The great extent of the area permits planting traditional Mediterranean species, thus bringing about a green lung within the town nucleus. Currently part of the area is destined for parking and a space will be reserved specifically for this purpose. On the part of the Municipal Services Experts, it is considered that the situation is the optimum to be accessible on foot from Alcala town centre and its use is compatible with the green area.
“This is a project which inspires us a lot, as it is going to open many possibilities for improving leisure and the utilisation of the public space, for the whole citizenship, where free time can be spent and which becomes a green lung within the town centre” Mayor Francisco Juan emphasised. Another point in favour of the action is that it will mean giving value to the town’s south access and it becomes a focus of attraction not only for residents of Alcala but also for those from the nucleus of Alcossebre and for nearby municipalities.
