Castellón airport is weaving alliances with Redit to encourage innovative projects linked to the aeronautic sector

Castellón airport and the Valencian Community Network of Technology Institutes (Redit) have opened routes for collaboration channelled to motivate innovative projects linked to the aeronautic sector.

This was tackled at a meeting between the general director of Aerocas, Blanca Marín, and a delegation from Redit composed by the president of the body, Fernando Saludes; his general director, Gonzalo Belenguer; and the coordinator of Innovation, Mobility and Automotion (IMAUT) and subdirector of the Instituto Técnológico Metalmecánico, Mueble, Madera, Embalaje and Afines (Aidimme), Vicente Rocatí.

Blanca Marín stated the willingness of the airport to make alliances with the agents linked to the I+D+i.  In this way, she said that Redit constitutes “one of the principal actors in the ecosystem of innovation in the Comunitat Valenciana, and therefore we want to establish synergies to enable studying the development of initiatives through the technology institutes.

The Aerocas director general explained the diversification strategy being implemented by the airport to the Redit representatives and the wish to capture innovative projects, especially those linked to the digitalisation and decarbonisation in the airport environment.  She also emphasised the objective of Aerocas to operate as a lever to encourage the development and motivation of the aeronautic sector”.

For his part, the president of Redit, Fernando Saludes, assured that “our centres are currently working on diverse projects related to innovative technologies, creation of materials with new properties and improving the comfort of passengers, to mention some, with application to the aeronautic sector and which can contribute to improving the competitivity of Castellón Airport in a palpable way.
