Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre PSPV-PSOE urges policies for pregnant women not to be penalised

Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre PSPV-PSOE councillor and secretary of Organisation for the local group, Sara Cucala Peraire, has put forward a motion for Monday 8th March, International Women’s Day, in which she urges the manifestation of a compromise in preparing equality policies of a transversal character, as well as evaluating and following up of the agreements made in equality material.

She also proposes driving policies which encourage conciliation, joint responsibility and not discriminating against women, for bringing about the elimination of policies which still happen in a hidden way in certain professions in which pregnant women are penalised by the simple fact of being mothers and assessed with a below normal yield.

Cucala Peraire said that “we promise and continue to encourage the rest of the institutions to continue to work for equality and to advance the development of policies for equality and against chauvinist and domestic violence”.  “Therefore, we are also supporting the State Pact and the Valencian Pact against domestic violence, and the support and budgetary continuity to guarantee their application”.

Finally, the socialist councillor urges that the 8th March be commemorated as the International Women’s Day and promotes activities aimed at reinforcing the principle of equality between men and women, adding to the UNO slogan “Women leaders: For an egalitarian future in the Covid-19 world”.
